Commuting is the ideal opportunity to apply for a new position. However, for most people, they still wait until their commute is over so they can upload their CV from their PC or laptop as they believe it is too messy to apply via a mobile device. So, what are the options to get your CV onto your mobile device?
Option 1 – E-mail (Android)
If you have e-mail available on your phone, the simplest method is to e-mail your CV to yourself. Then simply download your CV to your phone and you are free to attach it to further e-mails or upload it to a variety of job portals. However, for an iPhone your CV will need to be physically uploaded to your phone (see below).
Option 2 – Manual upload (iPhone)
For iPhones you will need to use your PC and open iTunes. Locate the CV on your PC and drag and drop it into the Books option in the iTunes library. Then sync your phone and voilà you have your CV available on your iPhone. Alternatively, you can create your CV on your iPhone, iPad and iPod by downloading an app such as the CV-Resume maker app.
Option 3 – Connect via USB cable
Connect your CV to your PC/laptop via USB cable and transfer your CV directly to your phone by using the USB transfer software on your PC.
Option 4 – Dropbox/ Google Drive
Save your CV to your Dropbox folder on your PC. Download the Dropbox app onto your Android or Apple device. Once you open this app you will be able to access your CV on any mobile device and attach it to e-mails or upload it to various job portals. The same principles as highlighted above also apply to Google Drive.
The advantages of being able to access your CV from your mobile device are many. For once you will be able to apply for positions when you are on the move. You won’t have to switch devices in order to submit your CV thus avoiding doubling up on work or forms already completed. In regards time sensitive opportunities, where you have an impeding deadline to meet, you can avoid any last-minute hiccups by having your CV readily available on your mobile device.
