Work-life balance is by far the most popular reason people cited why they remain and continue to work for their current organisation in Ireland’s ICT sector (Source: Abrivia Salary Survey 2019). The second most popular reason is interesting work, which is closely followed by job flexibility.
Pay satisfaction comes in a poor fourth place (11.89%) in terms of popularity in Ireland’s ICT sector when one investigates why ICT employees are happy to remain in their current organisation. The only reasons less popular than pay satisfaction are positive managers, culture, recognition for accomplishments, skills and abilities that fit the job, career advancement opportunities and competent managers.
This begs a question. How many job adverts in Ireland ICT sector are still focussed on pay and interesting work? I would hasten a guess that the majority still are, and many employers are wondering why their application rates are so low when they never even give a mention to work-life balance and job flexibility.
