The LinkedIn mobile app has received a welcome facelift which was released across all IOS and Android devices in Ireland earlier this month.
Profile Enhancement
The most visible enhancement when you look at a profile on the new app is that the profile picture is now centre stage in a more aesthetically pleasing circular frame. Immediately underneath is a sample post attributed to the person you are viewing.
There is also a useful scroll down feature to view all posts straight underneath. Then it moves on to summarise a person’s Activity, Experience, Education, Recommendations, Skills and Endorsements in a much clearer and succinct way than the old app. In essence the new look profile page succeeds in most cases in converting a person’s personal profile into a professional brand and makes it easier to see who is viewing your profile and who is sharing your blog posts, a feature that I am personally delighted with.
The profile section of the LinkedIn app is not the only section to receive a major overhaul and it appears that the whole app was re-created from scratch. The “Your Feed”,”Network”,”Messaging” and “search” have also received complete overhauls providing LinkedIn users with a greatly enhanced user experience.
“Your Feed” Enhancement
In regards “Your Feed” LinkedIn uses an algorithm to decide what content from your network is most relevant to you. This is based on a number of factors including the industry you are in, your title/function and your personal skillset. In the near future LinkedIn will tailor this even further by asking you which content you are most interested in. It will also provide you with an option to unfollow news feeds from your network. This will provide you with an individually tailored user experience in regards News Feeds from your Network.
Network Enhancement
You will probably have noticed much more prominent reminders to congratulate members of your network on Work Anniversaries, New Positions (etc.). Again this is an extremely useful feature.
Less Formal Messaging
The messaging function on LinkedIn is not as formal as previously and now resembles Facebook Chat or Whats App and will be more intuitive to most mobile phone users.
Search Speed
Finally Search is now 300% faster than the old App.
The new enhanced LinkedIn app, built from scratch, not only greatly simplifies the LinkedIn User Experience bust also converts sometimes stale looking user profiles into professional looking brands. Well done LinkedIn!
