So Louis Van Gal has been sacked and the inevitable appointment of Jose Mourinho appears to be just around the corner. The timing of such, makes even the coldest punter feel an element of pity for a man that has just won the FA Cup final. Surely even Louis Van Gaal deserved a day in the sun.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is quoted as saying:
“I would like to thank Louis and his staff for their excellent work in the past two years culminating in winning a record-equalling 12th FA Cup for the club (and securing him a title in four different countries). He has behaved with great professionalism and dignity throughout his time here. He leaves us with a legacy of having given several young players the confidence to show their ability on the highest stage. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best in the future. A decision on a successor as manager will be announced soon.”
As I am writing this, the details on Jose’s contract are surely being ironed out.
One can’t help feel that this ordeal could have been handled better. By all accounts it sounds like “Jorge Mendes” (Mourinho’s agent) leaked this story in retaliation for previous indifferences himself and LVG have had. Whoever is to blame Man United don’t come out looking well. Is anything confidential anymore?
