The Abrivia 2017 Salary survey found that two of the biggest motivators which affect ICT candidates accepting a job offer were the availability of healthcare and company sick pay policies. 48% of ICT respondents stated that the availability of healthcare had a major impact on them accepting a job offer whereas 42% said it had “some impact” on their decision making process.
Surprisingly 40% cited sick pay as having a major impact and 41% stated that sick pay had some impact on them accepting a job offer.
Maternity benefit was cited as a major consideration by a mere 9% of respondents. Dress code was a major issue for 15% of respondents whereas childcare costs had a major impact on the decision for 19% of ICT candidates. A reputation for diversity was a major consideration for 15% of candidates in Ireland’s ICT sector.
“The war on talent in the Irish ICT sector is immense. Companies who focus more on attractive healthcare packages and generous sick pay entitlements may be better positioned to win the war on talent in the coming years” Andrew Meehan Manager of Technology Services
