Where are those returning emigrants working?
22% of returning emigrants returned to work the Irish ICT space. This is followed by Sales and Marketing at 15%. Accounting 15% Finance and Banking 10%, Insurance, Compliance and Risk 9% and Office Support 9%.
40% of companies hired up to 3% of their new staff from returning emigrants. Some firms hired an even higher percentage of their new intake. Overall 57% of companies responded that their new hires in 2017 consisted of Irish returning from abroad.
With Ireland approaching full employment, with 85% of firms intending to hire in 2018, with 84% granting salary increases in 2017 and 89% expecting to increase salaries in 2018, now could be a great opportunity for the many Irish who are considering moving home permanently.
