How much do we really appreciate these two little words?
It is a well know fact that when we are thanked for the things we do it really motivates us, both at work and in life. It’s important to people that they feel valid, important, and respected. Just as saying sorry matters, so too does remembering to thank those who help you move forward. Appreciating both your colleagues and loved ones is an essential part of building and maintaining relationships and from a personal prospective it feels good to give gratitude. We say thank you for gifts, thank you for special favours, and thank you for assistance in times of need. But it’s not only the big things where thank you matters, sometimes it can be the simplest act of kindness for example, somebody holding a door open for you. So why is it so important to carry out such a simple act, well It is an indication you do not take them for granted, and an acknowledgement that they matter, and what are the rewards personally for you, well keep this in mind the next time your in a restaurant and you thank your waiter/waitress for their assistance see how far they are willing to go that extra mile for you because they can see you appreciate them, and always remember sometimes a simple Thank you can mean the world to a person who could be having a bad day! Saying thank you – it’s everyday etiquette and a simply courtesy that takes just a moment. It costs nothing, not even effort.
