The Abrivia Salary Survey 2019, in conjunction with Trinity College, asked employees in Ireland’s Finance and Banking sector the specific question “Which are the main reasons you continue to work for your current organisation?”. The findings proved to be very interesting in that they are at odds with what most employers think.
Employers assume that pay is the main motivator but a third more employees cite Work/Life Balance as the main reason for remaining with their current employer. This is then followed with a significant gap to when Pay is mentioned. Pay satisfaction is closely followed by interesting work and career advancement opportunities along with having skills and abilities that meet their job as the main reasons for remaining. The next most popular answers are job flexibility and having a positive manager.
At the other end of the scale, the items with the least impact are job mobility opportunities, cultural alignment with personal values, competent managers and recognition for accomplishments.
