There was welcome news for the Irish economy as Irish unemployment levels reached a seven year low, to 9.5% in July.
The largest annual growth surge in employment was witnessed in the construction sector, which saw employment levels increase by a phenomenal 18.5%, or 19,700 workers. The financial insurance and real estate sector also experienced a significant increase in employment levels, which was recorded as 5.7% or 5,500 people.
The largest employment sectors in the Irish economy, namely the industrial and manufacturing sector, retail and health sector all witnessed increases in employment levels. The Irish IT sector remains very buoyant with a huge demand in this sector for qualified IT candidates.
Increases in employment were experienced across all 8 regions in Ireland and is no longer confined to the major urban centres of Dublin, Cork and Galway.
