Senior IT Infrastructure Operations

Abrivia Recruitment is partnering with an organisation in the insurance and financial services sector to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Operations and Service Delivery Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT infrastructure and service delivery professional to join a growing, regulated business undergoing significant technology transformation.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Infrastructure Services and will take ownership of the day-to-day IT service operating model and core infrastructure environment. The role combines hands-on infrastructure and service management responsibilities with vendor oversight, project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the availability, reliability and security of the organisation’s IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms, networks, connectivity and hardware.
- Assist in the delivery and management of IT managed services and SOC services through third-party vendors.
- Manage escalations and ensure high levels of service and support for internal users.
- Apply ITIL principles across Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Patch Management, Risk Management and Capacity Management.
- Monitor and report on agreed service levels relating to infrastructure availability, performance, cyber security and end-user support.
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers, ensuring contractual obligations and service levels are achieved.
- Oversee third-party IT professionals, including service desk engineers, system administrators, network engineers and programme managers.
- Plan, execute and oversee IT projects, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, timelines and budgets.
- Ensure IT operations comply with relevant regulatory, security and information governance requirements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve IT processes, operational efficiency, resilience and service quality.
- Proactively manage cloud infrastructure and software licensing to optimise ongoing technology costs.
- Produce meaningful reports and analysis using tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Microsoft Excel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years’ experience in IT operations, infrastructure or technology strategy.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services and connectivity.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Purview.
- Proven experience managing third-party IT vendors, managed service providers and technology suppliers.
- Strong understanding of ITIL-based service management practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing IT projects from inception through to completion.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, software and hardware issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of IT compliance and security frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST 2.0 and COBIT.
- Understanding of relevant regulations including GDPR and DORA.
- Strong customer service focus and commitment to user satisfaction.
Desirable:
- Experience working within insurance, financial services or another regulated industry.
- Relevant professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISA, CISM or CISSP.
- Familiarity with information governance principles, including data classification and retention requirements.
- Exposure to AI technologies.
- Experience with reporting and data analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI and advanced Microsoft Excel.
