Commercial Director
Construction & Building Materials
Cork (On Site) | Executive Package
Abrivia Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Irish business operating within the construction supply sector to appoint a Commercial Director to its senior leadership team.
This is a senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for overall commercial performance and a key role in shaping the future direction of the business.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the commercial function, with responsibility for revenue, margin, customer strategy, commercial effectiveness and the continued development of a high-performing team.
The business has an established customer base, so this is not primarily a business development or “black book” appointment. The focus is on commercial leadership, people development, strategic direction and sustainable business performance.

- Lead, motivate and develop a commercial team, including approximately 5-6 direct reports.
- Drive revenue, margin and profitability across the business.
- Lead commercial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
- Improve sales effectiveness, productivity and commercial performance.
- Develop strategic relationships with key customers and suppliers.
- Oversee customer acquisition, retention and key account strategy.
- Use market, customer and competitor insight to support decision-making.
- Lead commercial change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with operational and wider business functions.
- Contribute to the longer-term strategic direction of the organisation.

- A strong track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Responsibility for revenue, margin, profitability and broader commercial performance.
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience within a sizeable B2B organisation.
- Strong customer, supplier and senior stakeholder management experience.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.
- Experience within construction products, building materials, merchanting or a related sector would be highly advantageous.

This role may suit an experienced Commercial Director, Sales Director, General Manager or Business Unit Director seeking a substantial leadership opportunity with genuine longer-term progression potential.

A highly competitive executive package is available, including:
- Competitive base salary
- Performance-related bonus
