About Our Client
A specialist in precision engineering, our client designs and manufactures high-performance tooling for the pharmaceutical industry. Their approach is simple: quality first, and there’s always a better way. Design engineers, machinists and support staff work as one close team, and there’s genuine room to learn and progress.
Why This Role
You’ll be the person who takes a turning job from first setup to finished, inspected part. If you take pride in holding tight tolerances and getting every component right, you’ll fit in well.
How Your Day Breaks Down
Setting up and running the machines
You’ll set up and run CNC lathes and turning machines, fit tooling and workholding, set work and tool offsets, and choose the right inserts, speeds and feeds for each job. You’ll prove out programs safely and make minor program and offset adjustments as needed.
Making and checking parts
You’ll work from engineering drawings and technical documentation to machine components to the required dimensions, tolerances and surface finish. You’ll carry out first-off and in-process checks with micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and thread gauges, deburr and finish parts, and keep production and quality records accurate.
Keeping things running
You’ll monitor tool wear and change tooling when needed, resolve machining faults quickly, carry out routine machine checks and keep your area clean and safe in line with company H&S, quality and manufacturing procedures. You’ll also work closely with the production, engineering and quality teams.
