Job Title: Multiline Underwriter

Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Multiline Underwriter to join our client, a leading insurer in Dublin. The position will focus primarily on new business across Property & Casualty package risks within the upper SME and lower middle-market sectors.
This is a broker-facing underwriting role with responsibility for identifying, quoting, negotiating and securing new opportunities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of either Property or Casualty risks together with the commercial skills required to build relationships and develop new business.
Your Role
- Underwrite new multiline package business with a focus on Property and Casualty risks
- Review new business submissions and assess risk quality, coverage requirements and appropriate underwriting terms
- Develop a pipeline of opportunities with broker partners and internal business development colleagues
- Prepare quotations and negotiate terms with brokers to convert suitable opportunities
- Exercise underwriting authority in line with agreed technical standards and guidelines
- Develop productive relationships with brokers and provide a high standard of service throughout the underwriting process
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across underwriting, distribution, risk engineering and operations
- Monitor new business activity against agreed targets and maintain a clear view of pipeline development
- Maintain accurate records and ensure underwriting information is complete and up to date
- Support a consistent and disciplined approach to risk selection while contributing to new business growth
Your Skills
- Previous Property or Casualty or multiline underwriting experience
- Experience underwriting package business within the SME or middle-market sectors
- Good technical understanding of both Property and Casualty risks
- Demonstrated ability to develop and convert new business opportunities
- Strong broker relationship management and negotiation skills
- Commercially minded with sound underwriting judgement
- Results focused with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across different teams
- Degree or professional insurance qualification such as ACII, or progress towards one, would be preferred but is not essential
