Job Title: Senior Claims Handler
Location: Dublin City Centre
Working Model: Hybrid – Monday to Wednesday in the office
Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior Claims Handler to join our client, a leading international insurance business based in Dublin.
Reporting to the Head of Claims, you will manage a varied portfolio of claims across multiple lines of business, taking ownership of claims from initial notification through to settlement.
This is a technically focused position that will involve both direct claims handling and working with external Third Party Administrators (TPAs). You will deal with complex claims, policy coverage, reserving and claims strategy while working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
The role would particularly suit an experienced claims professional who enjoys the technical side of claims and is interested in developing broader exposure across different classes of business and international territories.
Your Role
- Manage a varied portfolio of claims from initial notification through to settlement
- Take ownership of complex and higher-value claims, ensuring an appropriate claims strategy is established
- Review policy wordings and assess coverage, liability and indemnity
- Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate and settle claims within agreed authority levels
- Work with TPAs on externally managed claims, reviewing claims developments and ensuring appropriate handling standards are maintained
- Monitor reserves, large losses and potential exposures throughout the claims lifecycle
- Identify coverage issues and ensure these are appropriately investigated, documented and escalated where required
- Liaise with brokers, policyholders, TPAs, legal advisers, loss adjusters and other external service providers
- Work closely with the Head of Claims on complex, sensitive or significant claims
- Build technical knowledge across additional classes of business as the portfolio develops
Your Skills
- Strong experience within non-life insurance claims, ideally gained within an insurer, MGA or similar insurance environment
- Minimum CIP qualification
- Property Claims experience would be particularly advantageous
- Strong technical understanding of policy wordings, coverage and claims interpretation
- Experience managing claims through the full lifecycle from notification to settlement
- Experience dealing with complex or higher-value claims and making sound technical decisions
- Good understanding of reserving and the financial development of claims
- Experience working with TPAs or externally managed claims would be advantageous
- Confident dealing with brokers, policyholders, legal advisers, loss adjusters and other stakeholders
- Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to develop technical knowledge across different classes of business
