Job Title: International Underwriter
Location: South Dublin
Working Model: Hybrid – 3 days in the office
Abrivia are currently recruiting for an International Underwriter to join a specialist underwriting team with responsibility for insurance programmes across multiple European markets.
Working within a hands-on underwriting environment, you’ll manage international motor portfolios, support pricing decisions and gain exposure to reinsurance and cross-border insurance programmes.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Motor or Fleet Underwriter looking to broaden their international exposure, or someone with experience working within cross-border non-life insurance programmes.
Your Role
- Underwrite and manage motor insurance programmes across multiple international markets
- Take ownership of pricing, implementation and ongoing performance of assigned insurance programmes
- Act as the main point of contact for business partners and fronting insurers, managing day-to-day underwriting queries
- Review pricing, discounts and underwriting referrals, making recommendations within agreed authority limits
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends and implementing actions to improve profitability
- Develop and maintain policy wordings and underwriting documentation for new and existing programmes
- Coordinate reinsurance referrals, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Collaborate with actuarial, legal and business development teams to support new products and programme enhancements
- Support underwriting governance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and business partners across multiple jurisdictions
Your Skills
- Previous experience in Motor or Fleet underwriting, or within a cross-border non-life insurance environment
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, pricing and risk assessment
- CIP qualified or working towards a recognised insurance qualification
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound commercial underwriting decisions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of Freedom of Services business would be a distinct advantage
- Experience supporting reinsurance or fronting arrangements is desirable
- A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative underwriting team
