Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Motor Underwriter to join our client within the insurance sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join an international underwriting team, taking ownership of motor insurance programmes across multiple markets while working closely with actuarial, legal, and business development teams.
This role offers broad exposure across underwriting, pricing, portfolio performance, and product development. It would suit an experienced Motor Underwriter looking to build on their technical expertise within a collaborative environment that offers exposure to international insurance programmes.
Your Role
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of motor insurance programmes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Underwrite new and existing business, ensuring pricing and risk selection remain commercially appropriate.
- Review underwriting referrals and support decision-making on pricing, discounts, and policy acceptance.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and underwriting outcomes.
- Work closely with actuarial, legal, reinsurance, and business development teams on underwriting initiatives.
- Support the development and enhancement of policy wordings, underwriting procedures, and product offerings.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners while supporting ongoing programme reviews.
Your Skills
- Minimum three years’ experience in Motor Underwriting.
- CIP qualified or hold a relevant Insurance qualification.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound underwriting decisions.
- Good understanding of underwriting principles, pricing methodologies, and portfolio management.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a collaborative team.
- Previous exposure to international insurance programmes, motor fleet, MDI studies, or the motor leasing sector would be advantageous.
