Job Title: Broker Development Manager
Location: Dublin City
Working Model: Hybrid – predominantly market-facing
Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager – Commercial Lines to join our client, a leading insurance business in Dublin.
This is a highly market-facing role focused on developing broker relationships and identifying profitable Commercial Lines opportunities. While the position operates on a hybrid basis, candidates should expect to spend the majority of the working week attending broker meetings, industry events and the Dublin head office rather than working from home.
Your Role
- Manage and develop key broker relationships across the Commercial Lines market
- Identify profitable new business opportunities and support the delivery of sales, retention and profitability targets
- Spend significant time in the market meeting brokers and maintaining a strong, visible presence across the Dublin broker network
- Work closely with underwriting colleagues to resolve broker queries and support commercially sound business decisions
- Communicate product, appetite and underwriting strategy clearly to broker partners
- Provide brokers with a high standard of service while addressing underwriting, finance and operational queries
- Deliver product and market updates to brokers and contribute to relevant training initiatives
- Gather market intelligence and provide feedback on competitor activity, broker sentiment and wider insurance market developments
- Work closely with the wider broker and underwriting teams to achieve agreed performance and service objectives
- Represent the business at broker meetings, industry events and other relevant market forums
Your Skills
- At least five years’ experience within the General Insurance market
- Strong Commercial Lines insurance knowledge and a good understanding of the Irish broker market
- Previous experience within either an insurer or insurance broker will be considered
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong broker and client relationships
- Strong commercial judgement with an understanding of underwriting, profitability and portfolio performance
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills
- Confident operating in a highly visible, externally focused position
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills with the ability to manage a busy schedule of broker and market meetings
- CIP qualification is essential
- MDI qualification and/or progress towards ACII would be advantageous
- Good understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment within General Insurance
