Job Title: Senior P&C Underwriter

Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior P&C Underwriter to join our client, a leading insurer in Dublin. This role will focus on developing and underwriting new Property & Casualty package business across the upper SME and lower middle-market segments.
The successful candidate will work closely with broker partners across Ireland, managing opportunities from initial pipeline through to quotation, negotiation and conversion. This position would suit an experienced P&C Underwriter who combines strong technical underwriting capability with a proven ability to develop profitable new business.
Your Role
- Underwrite and convert new Property & Casualty package business
- Manage a strong pipeline of new business opportunities in conjunction with brokers and internal distribution teams
- Assess individual risks and make underwriting decisions within agreed authority levels and technical guidelines
- Negotiate terms, pricing and coverage with brokers to secure appropriate new business opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key broker partners across the Irish market
- Deliver a responsive and consistent underwriting service throughout the new business process
- Work closely with distribution, risk engineering, operations and underwriting colleagues on new opportunities
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure relevant risk information is captured appropriately
- Contribute to the delivery of new business targets while maintaining underwriting discipline and portfolio quality
- Represent the business professionally in broker meetings and wider market interactions
Your Skills
- Strong experience within Property & Casualty underwriting
- Proven track record underwriting and developing new business
- Strong technical knowledge across Property and Casualty risks
- Experience managing broker relationships and negotiating new business opportunities
- Sound commercial judgement with the ability to make well-supported underwriting decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a busy pipeline and work effectively to agreed service standards
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider underwriting and distribution team
- Professional insurance qualifications
