Accounts Assistant – Permanent

Abrivia Recruitment is partnering with an organisation in the sports sector to recruit an Accounts Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a leading national organisation with a collaborative and supportive working environment.
The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and will support the delivery of accurate and timely financial information across the organisation’s finance function. The role involves a mix of hands-on transactional finance, reconciliations, month-end support and internal reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices, employee expenses and credit card transactions.
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of financial transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve finance-related queries efficiently.
- Provide general support to the wider finance function as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role.
- Demonstrated experience using AccountsIQ accounting software.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end processes.
- Experience supporting the preparation of management accounts.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of numerical accuracy.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency across the wider MS Office suite.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a structured finance environment.
- Previous exposure to internal controls, financial reporting and supplier query management.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
