Abrivia are currently recruiting for an Trainee Actuary to join our client within the insurance sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing actuarial professional to gain broad exposure across reserving, regulatory reporting, financial reporting, and actuarial analysis within a growing and collaborative team environment.
Working closely with qualified actuaries, the successful candidate will support a range of actuarial activities while continuing their professional qualification journey. This role would suit someone with a strong technical foundation who is looking to broaden their experience across reserving, Solvency II, IFRS 17, and wider actuarial projects.
Your Role
- Support the preparation and analysis of actuarial reserves and quarterly reserving exercises.
- Assist with Solvency II reporting and regulatory submissions.
- Contribute to IFRS 17 reporting processes and associated analysis.
- Support audit requirements and liaise with internal and external stakeholders where required.
- Analyse claims trends, loss ratios, and portfolio performance to support business decision-making.
- Assist with actuarial modelling, reporting improvements, and system enhancements.
- Contribute to board reporting, management information, and wider actuarial projects.
Your Skills
- 2-3+ years’ experience within an actuarial function, ideally within General Insurance.
- Life, Health, or other insurance actuarial backgrounds will also be considered.
- Progressing through actuarial exams, with a clear commitment towards qualification.
- Experience across some or all of reserving, Solvency II, IFRS 17 reporting, audit support, loss ratio analysis, or risk appetite monitoring.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Experience using actuarial software packages, with ResQ experience highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
