Job Title: Senior Underwriter

Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior Underwriter to join our client, a leading insurer based in Dublin City.
This role sits within the Property & Casualty team and will focus on developing new business across the middle-market segment. The successful candidate will manage opportunities from initial pipeline development through to quotation, negotiation and conversion, working closely with broker partners across Ireland.
Your Role:
- Underwrite and convert new Property & Casualty package business in line with agreed targets and underwriting guidelines
- Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities in partnership with brokers, producers and business development colleagues
- Assess risks, prepare quotations and negotiate terms with a clear commercial focus
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key broker partners across the Irish market
- Deliver a responsive underwriting service and maintain a high standard of communication throughout the new business process
- Work closely with sales, distribution, risk engineering, operations and other underwriting teams when developing opportunities
- Apply appropriate underwriting judgement and operate within agreed authority and technical standards
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure relevant information is recorded correctly
- Contribute to peer review activity and support consistent underwriting standards across the team
Your Skills:
- Previous experience in Property & Casualty underwriting
- Proven experience developing and writing new business
- Strong technical understanding of Property & Casualty risks
- Commercial judgement with the confidence to negotiate and make underwriting decisions
- Strong broker relationship management and communication skills
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively in a busy underwriting environment
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a wider team
- Leaving Certificate or higher qualification, with a degree, ACII or progress towards a professional insurance qualification desirable but not essential
- Strong focus on service and providing timely responses to brokers
